Programs in the Arts

"The mission of SPARK! is to empower people of all ages and backgrounds to create and build community through the arts. To achieve this, SPARK! is committed to the creation of arts/educational programs that encourage creativity and build community; and using theatre as a catalyst to create public events with non-arts groups to broaden public dialogue through the arts about important issues."

Greetings!

As we had hoped, feedback from our summer camps has been a big success! The instructors are enthusiastic and can't wait to get started. The families in Rappahannock who havve called the office are excited to have new opportunities for their children during the long, hot days of summer. (The response has been so uplifting that we are already planning on a wider selection for next summer; and this year's camps haven't taken place yet!)

We've heard from many residents in this community about our plans for this winter's art workshops and classes. I plan to have the selection of workshops to be available locked into place by fall. Beginning in October, to look over the complete itinerary for the winter classes, look under "Upcoming Events". There will be a nominal fee for the classes, and we will have pizza and drinks available for the kids as they arrive. The plans are to feed the children from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and have the classes start at 6:00 p.m. and run until 9:00 p.m. Held every other Friday evening during January through March, this should give our children something to look forward to!

I hope that you can take advantage of the wonderful art events in our area this summer. We have an amazing selection of varied artists in our own backyard. Great people, friendly families—it's our own piece of paradise!

Hope to see you soon,
Ginny Leser
